Instagram is an excellent social media platform – especially for small business owners. However, it has limitations. One of the most frustrating ones is that you can only include one equine website link in your bio (which is why you should create a custom Instagram link page). Ugh. When you’re a small business owner trying to build an online presence, links are like potato chips. It’s impossible to just have one.
In order to get around the “one link dilemma”, most business owners use third-party websites like Lnk.Bio, Smart.Bio, and Linktree. If you’ve spent any time looking around other profiles on Instagram, you’ve probably seen these sites. In fact, you may be using them for your own bio. While these sites are great for simple, free link options, they aren’t always the ideal choice. Most of the free options available on these sites are limited when it comes to design, which means you can’t always match it to your brand. Another downside? You don’t get to use your custom website domain. Every time someone clicks on your Instagram link, they’re taken to the third-party site. Wouldn’t you love it if all of that traffic went directly to your equine website? Uh, yeah. I think so.
The solution? Create a custom Instagram link page on your WordPress equine website using the Elementor page builder. In this post, I’m going to show you how you can easily create a custom page that will allow you to feature as many links as your heart desires. This page will use your business domain name, and you’ll have complete control over the design. The best part? It’s a completely free add-on.
To complete this, you’re going to need two things: a WordPress equine website and the Elementor plugin (the free version is fine). To make this tutorial as EASY as possible, I’ve created a free Instagram link page template for Elementor.
You can download the template by clicking here.
Step One: Create A New Page on Your Equine Website and Edit with Elementor
You’ll need to start out by creating a brand new page on your equine website. Once you’ve created the new page, you’ll click the “Edit with Elementor” button. This will take you into the Elementor editing screen. Your page should be blank, aside from your header and footer. If you’re using the free version of Elementor, you’ll need to leave both the header on footer on the page. Those with an Elementor Pro account will have the option to hide them.
Step Two: Import Your Elementor Template
On the editing screen, you will see a Folder icon. Select that option and wait for the pop-up to appear. When it does, select the Import icon on the upper right corner of the window. Navigate to your saved template file, and import it into your page.
Step Three: Update the Template to Match Your Brand
Now that you’ve imported the template, you are free to change the elements to match your branding. Make sure you switch the links and text in the buttons to match the links on your own site!
Once everything is designed and ready to go, go ahead and click the save button. After you’ve saved, you can exit out of the editing screen to view your new page.
Step Four: Add the Link to Your Instagram Bio
Now that your new page has been created, the last step is to add it to Instagram! Update the link and feel free to test it out. In my opinion, this is the best part!
Why You Should Create a Custom Instagram Link Page
Having a link page directly on your website is good for so many things. For one, it helps to keep your brand consistent for your followers. Consistency is key – especially when it comes to building a business. That linked page will also keep the traffic generated from your profile on your website, rather than someone else’s. You’ve worked hard to drive those views, why would you give them to another domain name?
I hope this quick how-to has been helpful for you! If you have any questions about building a custom Instagram link page, please feel free to reach out. I’m happy to help go through the process (or even design a custom one for you).
