You don’t need a designer who has to Google what a PEMF session is or ask you to explain why your clients care so much about the hay that your horse eats. You need someone that already gets it, who understands the horse world from the inside – and has the design and strategy skills to translate that into a brand and website that actually works.
I’m Alysia: equestrian, agency-trained designer, and the person behind every Bay Mare Design project. I built BMD specifically for equine professionals because I was tired of watching equine businesses struggle.
How I got Here
I've been designing for the horse world longer than I've been calling it a career.
It started when I was 12. When I wasn’t at the barn with my Thoroughbred gelding, I was coding Horseland home pages and designing custom horse photos in Photoshop. I didn’t know it then, but I was already doing the work.
That hobby eventually turned into a real education — an AAS in web development and design, a junior designer role at a marketing agency, and years of learning what it actually takes to build brands that perform, not just ones that look good on a portfolio.
In 2022, I left to build Bay Mare Design full time. I kept seeing equine businesses with incredible services and forgettable brands — and I knew exactly how to fix it. The technical side has always been part of what sets me apart. I can build what I design. No handing off to a developer, no workarounds, no “that’s not possible.”

I’m a horse mom to *two* – Lux & Felicity. Felicity is the inspiration behind BMD. She’s been teaching me things about patience and problem-solving since I bought her in 2020.
She’s also a constant reminder of why this work matters. I know what it feels like to invest in something you love. To care deeply about finding the right people to trust with it. Your clients feel the same way about their horses, and that’s the exact kind of client I want to help you attract.
